Salem International University Falls to VMI 22-6 in Season Opener

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Salem International University women's water polo team lost to Virginia Military Institute 22-6,  in Lexington, Virginia. The game marked the first time since the 2004 season that the Tigers have played a women's water polo game, and the inaugural contest in the history of VMI water polo.

"I'm happy to be a part of revitalizing the women's program", said SIU coach Rob Bullion. "Now that we've go this first game under our belts we can go back and work on the things that will make us a better team."

Junior hole-set Kerinn Fields scored all six Tigers' goals with assists coming from Nazira Mukhamejan and Vanessa Jones. Senior Tre'Shaun Roberson had six saves in goal.
