Louis Wills scored once for Arizona in the Wildcats 17-3 win over NYU

TUCSON, ARIZONA - Dave Jacobs (Sr., San Diego, CA) earned Player of the Game honors with four goals as the University of Arizona Wildcats clawed the New York University Violets 17-3 in the opening round of the 2007 National Collegiate Club Championship Tournament at Arizona.

Playing in their home pool at the Student Recreation Center, the Wildcats made themselves at home running out to a 4-0 lead with 5:46 left in the second period and holding a 7-2 lead at halftime before rattling off 10 second half scores for the 14 goal victory.

Overall, 10 different Wildcats found the back of the cage in the game as Arizona used a hat-trick by Alex Negronida (Jr., Evanston, IL) and pairs of goals by Todd Carpenter (Sr., Riverside, CA) and Brett Krouskup (So., Los Gatos, CA) to overpower NYU and advance to the second round.

Arizona will next be in action at 12:30 p.m. on November 10 against either Middlebury College or Virginia Tech, while NYU will continue the tournament this evening against either Florida International University or the University of Minnesota.

In goal, Evan Zaggy (So., St. Louis, MO) and Jack Killheffer (Fr., Evanston, IL) combined for 10 saves for Arizona to take the win. Adam Esparza (Jr., Pasadena, CA) swatted down eight shots for New York University
