Cal Poly's Aaron Shilling defends against Georgia Tech's Logan McLeod

TUCSON, ARIZONA - California Polytechnic State University received goals from 11 different players, including pairs of markers from five men, as the Mustangs swatted the Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets 16-2 in the opening round of the 2007 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Arizona.

The Mustangs dominated the game from the opening sprint to the closing horn scoring six goals in the first period, five in the second period, three in the third period and two in the fourth period to over power Georgia Tech and advance to a 12:30 p.m. showdown on November 10 versus either Middlebury College or Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.

Overall, Bobby Erzen (Sr., San Jose, CA), Josh Mix (Sr., Redwood City, CA), Justin Lekos (So., San Diego, CA), Bryce Sigourney (Sr., Carmel, CA) and Bryson Bailey (So., Morgan Hill, CA) tallied pairs of goals for Cal Poly to lead the team. In addition, five players netted assists in the game for Cal Poly.

In goal, Mike Peters (Sr., Santa Rosa, CA) made four saves to earn the win for Cal Poly, while Georgia Tech's Jordan Hill (Sr., Naperville, IL) took the loss with seven saves.

Georgia Tech will next be in action at 7:30 p.m. tonight against the loser of the Middlebury-Virginia Tech first round game .
