| Miami goalie Andy Stiebler lays-out for a save against GVSU's Chris Posthumus TUCSON, ARIZONA - Will Hewitt (So., Irvine, CA) made his second goal of the game count the most scoring with 2:18 left in the second overtime period as the Miami University RedHawks upset Grand Valley State University 11-10 in overtime at the 2007 National Collegiate Club Championship Tournament at the University of Arizona. The win places Miami in a semifinal game against either Cal Poly State University or Middlebury College at 9:50 p.m. as the RedHawks can finish no worse than fourth in the tournament, a dramatic improvement over their 10th place finish in 2006 and ninth place in 2005. The game was anything but easy for Miami as the RedHawks saw 3-0, 7-4 and 9-6 leads evaporate in the contest. Leading 9-6 with 5:31 left in the fourth period, Miami witnessed its lead get chipped away as GVSU's Zach Heathman (Jr., Grandville, MI) tally a counter goal at 2:17, Nenad Ciric (So., Belgrade, Serbia) score on a counter with a lob shot on a man-advantage at 1:44 and Chris Posthumus (Gr., Grandville, MI) finish a pass from Heathman with a shot into the middle of the cage with 24 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the game at nine-all. Miami regained the lead in the first overtime period when Ross McConnell (Sr., St. Louis, MO) registered his fourth goal of the game with a shot between the raised arms of GVSU goalie Peter Huyser (So., Zeeland, MI) on a man-advantage opportunity to go in front 10-9. GVSU answered right back as Marc Wagner (So., Holland, MI) slipped through the Miami defense and buried an exclusion-goal with 38 seconds left to knot the game at 10-10 and set up Hewitt's heroics. McConnell and Hewitt led Miami combining for seven of the team's 11 goals, while Posthumus, Ciric and Wagner tallied eight of Grand Valley State's 10 goals. In goal, Andy Steibler (Jr., Columbus, OH) made seven saves, while Huyser stopped seven shots for the Lakers. Grand Valley will continue the tournament at 7:30 p.m. versus either Cal Poly or Middlebury as the Lakers will have a chance to advance to the fifth place game.
