| Logan McLeod looks to shoot through spray against Virginia Tech TUCSON, ARIZONA - Logan McLeod (Gr., San Diego, CA) scored five goals to earn Player of the Game honors as the Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets stung the Virginia Tech University Hokies 10-7 at the National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Arizona. Down 1-0 with five minutes left in the first period, Georgia Tech tied the game and took the lead with a pair of first period goals as McLeod scored at 3:48 and Brian Twynham (Jr., Alpharetta, GA) pumped in a tally at 1:15. The margin grew to 4-1 two minutes into the second period on a goal by McLeod at 6:33 and a penalty shot score by Nate Brown (Gr., Cooperstown, NY) with 5:09 left in the first half. Virginia Tech responded courtesy Rory Brannan (Sr., Towson, MD) who netted a natural goal at 4:42 and an exclusion goal at 2:28 to put the Hokies within striking distance at 4-3 with a half to play. Virginia Tech tied the game to open the third period as Pat Cureton (Sr., McLean, VA) and Chris Roil (Sr., Towson, MD) found the back of the cage at 6:24 and 3:59, respectively, but McLeod reestablished the Yellow Jackets lead at 6-5 with a blast at the 1:16 mark. The goal ignited the Georgia Tech offense as the team posted three goals to open the fourth period and take a 9-5 lead with three minutes to play, a deficit Virginia Tech could not overcome. Brannan and Roil led the Virginia Tech scorers with pairs of goals as the Hokies will next be in action at 2:50 p.m. on November 10 against either Texas A&M University or the University of Utah. In goal, Joe Niewola (Fr., Williamsburg, VA) made five saves for Virginia Tech. Jordan Hill (Sr., Naperville, IL) recorded four saves for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech will continue play on November 10 at 5:10 p.m. against the winner of the Texas A&M-Utah game.
